The joint summer program between The Faculty of Business and Economics of Universiti Malaya (UM) and The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues after a fruitful inbound event. The International Academic and Business Visit program that was held from the 21st of February 2023 to the 28th of February 2023 was successful and is followed by a visit to Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
On May 8th 2023, 20 UNAIR students arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and were welcomed by the i-Smart Buddies of Universiti Malaya. The students were taken to their respective dormitories and got to know each other over the provided dinner.
The program officially opened on May 9th through the opening ceremony held at The Faculty of Business and Economics Universiti Malaya. The ceremony was opened by The Deputy of Dean, Associate Prof. Dr. Mohd Edil Bin Abd Sukor, who officially introduced the UNAIR students to Universiti Malaya. Once the students were properly welcomed, they went through a tour of UM’s vast campus.
During the program, the students of UNAIR were able to attend courses from some of UM’s best lecturers. Some of the topics they went over were social equity in public administrations, globalization, and Islamic economics. Some of these classes were attended in conjunction with other UM students and the UNAIR students were able to participate in discussions through the QnA sessions.
In addition to the courses above, students of UNAIR also got to experience Malaysian culture through authentic dishes and visits to some historical sites and popular destinations in Kuala Lumpur. A visit to Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery and The Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) was also held to further add on to the students’ knowledge of the Malaysian economy.
"This program has been a fun journey of learning about the culture and to obtain new knowledge.”, stated by Dhiamedina Putri, a first-year student of UNAIR who got to join this program. “Hopefully there are more opportunities ahead for us to experience later on.”, she continued.
