Following a successful program International Academic and Business Visit which was held from 31 July until 7 August at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Surabaya, now the joint summer program takes place at Universiti Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 14-21 August 2022.
The first day of the Summer Programme UM UNAIR ran smoothly. 24 UNAIR students arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 16.00 KL time and were greeted by their buddies at Universiti Malaya. The students went to the dormitory and got some rest before they had dinner.
The Joint Summer Program officially opened today (15/8) through the opening ceremony held at the Faculty of Economics and Business Universiti Malaya. The opening ceremony was filled with the introduction of Kuala Lumpur and Malaya University, a welcoming speech from the Chief of Buddies, and also opening remarks from Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Edil Bin Abd Sukor (The deputy Dean, Student Affairs Faculty of Economic and Business). The agenda was followed up with ice breaking session and a campus tour. After lunch, all the students had their field trip to Malaysian handcraft KL.
Overall, the students of UNAIR will enrol on some courses such as Economic Development of Southeast Asia, Applied Shariah in Islamic Capital Market, International Political Economy, and Financial Administration in Developing Countries. In addition to the above courses, they have also registered the plenary courses Introduction to Malaysian History.
“This is for the first time we have incoming students from Universitas Airlangga after the pandemic.” Mr Ahmad Hilmi Mohamad Noor, the Senior Assistant Registrar of Universiti Malaya, stated in the pre-departure briefing before the program begin. “Hopefully, this initial program will strengthen the collaboration between Universitas Airlangga and Universitas Malaya in the future,” replied Dr Gancar Candra Premananto as the Head of the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga.
