Surabaya - There were interesting views at the 234th Graduation Ceremony Airlangga University. Father and son were both graduates at the event which took place at Campus C Unair, Mulyorejo, Surabaya, Saturday (14/10/2023).
The father and son who graduated were Adri Istambul Lingga Gayo Sinulingga and Muhammad Surya Ilyas Mahardhika Bahri Lingga Gayo Sinulingga. Interestingly, both of them graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business.
The difference is, Adri Istambul Lingga Gayo Sinulingga graduated with a Masters in Management. Meanwhile, his son, Muhammad Surya Ilyas Mahardhika Bahri Lingga Gayo Sinulingga, is a Bachelor of Economics.
When contacted by PortalJTV.com, Adri admitted that he never expected to graduate with his biological child. However, he did joke that he would graduate together.
"I just believed that the talk was actually a prayer," said Adri when contacted by telephone, Saturday (14/10/2023).
Not only did they graduate together, Adri and his son also had a final assignment supervisor who was a married couple. He was guided by Dr. Gancar Candra Premananto, SE., M.Si, while his son is Dr. Masmira Kurniawati, SE., M.Sc.
"This is another coincidence, the supervisors are husband and wife even though they are at different levels, S1 and S2," added Adri.
However, during the process of preparing the final assignment, father and son never worked on it together. The trial process was almost the same, only one day apart.
During the graduation procession, Adri, who graduated with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3,86, had the opportunity to speak on stage. He then introduced his son to the graduates and guests present.
"The Chancellor didn't know that I was graduating at the same time. The Chancellor called (my son) to the front too," he continued.
Furthermore, Adri said, through the joint graduation procession, he hoped he could set an example for his children to remain enthusiastic in gaining knowledge.
"Speech must also be positive thinking, because speech is prayer. At first it was just a joke, but when it was answered it became (reality)," he stressed.
